CCBC Sprints Regatta
500 metres,
side by side.
Our spring regatta on the Shannon — short, fast, and decided in the last 100 metres. Five-lane racing across two days, finals for most categories, and a full programme from juniors through masters.
Dates for the next regatta haven't been announced yet — check back soon.
The course
500 metres of straight, fair water on the Shannon. Five lanes, buoy-marked, with the finish line level with the clubhouse landing at World's End — one of the widest sprint courses on the Irish racing calendar.
The course favours a clean start and a settled middle — there's no time to recover if you miss the first ten strokes. Wash from the adjacent lane and the river itself stay manageable in calm conditions, but the prevailing wind can build a headwind across the second 250.
The day
- Heats from mid-morning, finals through the afternoon for most categories.
- Categories from junior 14 through to masters; sculling and sweep, single through eight.
- Trailering and warm-up zones marshalled — please follow signs and crew.
- Hot food, tea and coffee from the clubhouse all day.
For competing crews
Entries go through Rowing Ireland's central system. Draws and timing details are published on the event page in the week before the regatta. Team managers are welcome at the morning briefing in the clubhouse.

For spectators
Free to attend. The finish line at World's End gives the best view of the close finishes; the clubhouse is the place to be between races for tea, food, and the sound system. Plenty of green space for kids — bring a folding chair if you'd like one.
